Building Salsa in St. John’s – From Facebook Creation to Multicultural Community: Judy D at TEDxFortTownshend 2013
– Mover, shaker, motivator of all things Salsa in St. John’s! She’s known to throw business cards to total strangers in store line-ups & to passers-by on the street. She’s been a tireless Salsa Dance promoter since first becoming addicted in 2006. Since creating her facebook group Salsa in St. John’s in 2008, Judy D has helped the group grow from 35 members to a 500+ member multicultural group!
– Judy is a bit of a facebook junkie, and not only for salsa — she loves finding and sharing worthwhile community events. This often leads her to volunteer with extra groups, like TEDxFortTownshend…she just can’t help getting enthusiastic about groups that promote helpful ideas!
– Judy was born and raised a Newfoundlander and so far she’s been a Red Cross volunteer & instructor, telemarketer, & insurance agent; she dabbles in graphic design and painting, & currently works as a full-time RN in her spare time.
– How did a Newfoundlander get caught up in Salsa Dancing and manage to make it into a happening community? Listen to her speak at TEDxFortTownshend 2013 — Creative Communities and she’ll reveal all!
