Message from Bailamos St. John’s: We are going to start hosting some free practice sessions. The first session will be this Saturday  Oct 5th 6-7pm, 4th floor rehearsal room, Arts and Culture Center.

This is not a structured class, but an opportunity to get together to practice. It is an opportunity to ask questions and get some help in areas you may be having problems.

* A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to THRIVE Community Youth Network(CYN) St. John’s. THRIVE is an umbrella organization that works with the community to:

address gaps in services;
build community partnerships;
increase awareness of existing programs and services;
and to conduct outreach to our most marginalized youth.

The THRIVE Drive is a fall donation program to help gear people up for the cold winter months…many marginalized young people need hats, gloves, blankets, winter boots, personal care items, and so on to help them survive the winter on the streets. Session 1: 6-7pm – Salsa Workshop Salsa Turn Patterns – Must have a good knowledge of all the basic salsa steps and beginner partner signals.
**This session will work on technicalities and beginner turn patterns.
**This session requires knowledge of the basic steps and is for the students of the beginner 2 salsa class. Anyone who is comfortable with all the basic salsa steps and dancing with a partner are also welcome to join. No partner required.
Session 2: 7-8pm – Meringue
**This workshop will introduce the dance Merengue.
**Anyone can join this class. No partner or experience required.Dress: Comfortable clothing, dance shoes or socks

YES there’s a salsa party this Saturday!!! It’s hosted by Refugee-Immigrant Advisory-Council as the conclusion to their all-day Summer Cultural Festival.*
Featuring guest DJ Guille Zambrano, with his hot list of Latin hits: salsa, merengue, reggaeton and more! World dance music will also be played from Judy D’s collection, with music available by request from DanceHall and Bollywood to Middle Eastern.
So get your dance feet on…it’s gonna be a PARTY!
Cover is by donation – $5 minimum suggested 🙂

Workshop details: Intermediate Salsa Shines and Bachata Workshop, Sat Aug 10th 6:00pm until 8:00pm

This workshop will include:

Session 1
Salsa Shines 6-7pm
**This session will cover some shine patterns to take your salsa dancing to the next level. Shines are an important part of making your dancing more fun for you and entertaining for others to watch.

Session 2
Bachata 7-8pm
**Lets review our Bachata basics and add some new moves for you to use in your dancing. We need to get everyone dancing at the socials so that you don’t have to feel like sitting out when a Bachata song comes on.

Cost – $20 per session
