Drop in for a workshop or linger all day: meet the dance schools and companies in town and enjoy a day of dance!
10:30-11:20: HoopDance with Cindy Butt
11:30-12:20: Highland Dance with Lisa Manouchehri
12:30-1:20: Bollywood with Sanchita Chakroborty

The Dance Academy, 75 Airport Road, St. John’s

The 6-7:30pm workshop is for complete beginners. No experience necessary. No partner necessary.

Cost: $25 per person Bring a friend and it will only be $20 per person

**If you enjoy this session you are welcome to stay for the next session as we move from the very basic steps to showing you how to do a simple turn pattern to begin to put the basics together.

7:30-8:30pm Beginners+

This workshop is for beginners who are comfortable with the basic steps of salsa and we will be learning a simple turn pattern, or two, in this session. No partner necessary.

Cost: $20 per person Bring a friend and it will be only $15 per person

Registration for both workshops $40 per person Bring a friend $30 per person

HEY! Have you been leading/following and want to try the opposite role? Try going to Swing I to learn the other side of dancing! All of our instructors have learned both roles and we highly recommend it. It will absolutely make you a better dancer! Plus, you can dance with *anybody*!

Not sure which level will fit you best? The instructors will be able to help you make that decision. Never tried swing before? Drop in for the first class of the session and we’ll show you the ropes! Please note that this session we will not be accepting drop-ins after our first lesson.

TUESDAYS at THE LANDING in the University Centre!
**7-8pm – Swing I and Swing II
**8-8:30 – Social Dance
**8:30-9:30 – Advanced Class
*Please note that we will only be accepting drop-ins at the first class of the session.

7-8pm will be for pure beginners and those with slightly more experience, 8-8.30 will be time for free-form social dancing, 8:30-9:30 will be a class for intermediate/advanced dancers.

We will be exploring more advanced moves during the last part which may be tough for beginners to pick up, but beginners may enjoy and benefit from just watching. We’d also very much like to encourage the advanced students to come out for the free-dancing–it’s all about mingling and having lots of people to dance with!

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?:

– Full Session: $30
– Drop-in fee (for our first lesson): $5

Milonga Brava Hosted by Argentine Tango with Teri

Milonga: a social tango event. If you’ve never danced tango before, there will be a foundations lesson from 7-8, with social dancing from 8-11. You don’t need to bring a partner, but may do so if you want.

Date: Saturday, May 10th
Time: 7-11pm
Place: MMap room of the Arts and Culture Centre
Bring: Yourself, a friend or two (if you like), dry shoes, and $5 to help pay for the venue.

From dancers to all sorts of exciting ways to have an event, you are sure to always dazzle spectators!  We would be most grateful for your consideration in joining our Walk for Memories fundraising event!  There is no monetary contribution necessary, as we invite you to simply join our Walk around Kenny’s Pond on 135 MacDonald Drive, St. John’s, NL, May 25^th.

Our Walk for Memories takes place each May, and this will be our 25th year, which is very exciting! What better way to commemorate this occasion, then by having dances from the Salsa in St. John’s attend our Walk.  Our fundraiser is a family event and welcomes people of all ages to attend.

This event is in support of over 7,681 families and individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease in Newfoundland and Labrador, and all funds raised stays in the province to support those in need.  Your presence will help to generate excitement and participation for our fundraiser, which will help to make it a huge success!… the purpose of this event is to promote awareness and raise funds to support all the helpful programs and services provided by the Society.”
