RIAC’s Summer Cultural Festival (SCF) was founded in 2011 as part of RIAC’s outreach efforts. In 2012, RIAC’s SCF found it’s role in the community as a platform where newcomers to Newfoundland have an opportunity to explore the thriving local cultural influences while, at the same time, participate in them. The SCF has been growing since 2011.
In 2014, RIAC’s SCF is a two day festival at Victoria Park and includes workshops, two food markets and three concerts. The SCF celebrates cultural diversity and artistic creativity in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Along with musical, dance, and spoken word performances, the Summer Cultural Festival also features cross-cultural workshops and an open air market with unique food and crafts.
ATTENTION DANCERS:
The dance concert at The Ship on Sat Aug 23rd will feature The Brad Jefford Swing Ensemble AND The Skylarks! They’ll be playing swing, world music and jazzy tunes, including some Latin pieces. In between sets will be salsa and Latin DJ’d music…so break out your dance shoes for a night full of fun 🙂
AND Bailamos St. John’s will be hosting a Salsa Dance Workshop at the festival!
