 DETAILS:
Wednesday 8:45-9:45pm – Level 2 Salsa/Latin This class is for students of our previous level 2. New students are welcome but must be able to complete basic salsa turn patterns. Price: $110 for 8 weeks, $15 drop in.
Sunday 7-8pm – Level 1 Salsa/Latin This class is for complete beginners. No experience necessary, no partner necessary. Price: $110 for 8 weeks, $15 drop in.
Sunday 8-9pm – Zumba Fitness Ditch the workout and join the party as we have fun using music and dance to get into shape. This is not a dance class. No dance experience necessary! Price: $80 for 10 Zumba sessions, $10 drop in.

Yes they are offering beginner salsa lessons for just $45 for the term for MUN students… a great way to get you on the social dance floor quick! Chance to Dance is a practice session, held every few weeks, where Hoppers can practice the moves that we’ve already learned. In other words: dancey playtime! We won’t be teaching you anything new, but we can answer any questions you have about what you’ve covered with us before, and we can certainly help you develop some flair or string familiar movements together in new and interesting ways.

Message from LHOTR: If you’ve come to at least one Swing class with Lindy Hop on the Rock, we wanted to let you know about a fabulous workshop organized for Saturday April 5th and we’d love to see you at! We’re really excited to have a teacher from Montreal coming to help us tighten up our dancing and bring it to the next level! After the daytime workshops, we will cap things off with a swingin’ social in the evening. Hope to see you there! Here are the details:

Lindy Hop Workshop !

Join instructor Adrian Warnock-Graham and Lindy Hop on the Rock for a day of fun, intensive Lindy Hop workshops this coming Saturday, April 6 at The Landing (UC 3018):

10:30am – 12pm: Workshop #1: Back to Basics.We’ll start the weekend with a review of the fundamentals of Lindy, such as position and connection. Even the most advanced dancers will benefit from this review! We’ll quickly move on to more advanced material.

12pm-1pm: lunch break

1pm-2:30pm: Workshop #2: Intermediate Lindy Hop. Working on intermediate moves such as Swingout, Texas Tommy and Charleston variations.

2:30-2:45: 15 min break

2:45-4:15: Workshop #3: Intermediate Lindy Hop #2. A continuation of intermediate moves.

8pm – 11pm: Social! We’ll cap the day off with a social dance! (A lesson will be offered for absolute beginners at 8pm, but will be away from the main dance space)

Cost for all 3 workshops and social is only $20 !!! (or $10 for each workshop individually, $7 cover for the social).

No registration required, just show up ready to dance!

Kick up your heels and have a swinging good time with the whole family. The Belles will perform from 2-3pm but why not come on down 1:30 for the Belle Hop, a chance to warm up with the musicians and have a little playtime! Tickets are $7 at the door.

The Swinging Belles feature child educators and performers Laura Winter and Erin Power joined by guitarist extraordinaire Duane Andrews. This is the Swinging Belles debut show and it will be packed with music, interactive story telling and dancing… lots of dancing. So saddle up and swing on down for a hoe down that don’t slow down.

Sat May 6th, 7-11pm Come one, come all to the MUN Swing Club’s Spring Social!

All are welcome! No experience or partner required. Just bring indoor shoes (that don’t have too much grip, like Keds), and an itch to dance!

We will have a beginner’s lesson from 7:00-8:00p.m. and social dancing from 8:00-11:00.

How much? Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door. This money will go towards funds for a future Swing Social with a live band.

Where exactly is the dance? On the third floor of the Arts and Culture Center, in the MMAP Room.

Sunday Practica, January 6th  will take place at Bally Haly Golf Course at the regular time, because the Arts and Culture Centre is booked for the Arts and Letters Competition. There will be no practica Dec. 23rd, 27th  or 30th.  Have a very merry Christmas with your family and loved ones.
 
Practica will take place in the 3rd floor Gallery Dec 20th, Jan. 3, and January 10. Our regular schedule will be in place for the remainder of the winter term.
 
Dance away the Winter Blues! We have booked Bally Haly for dinner and dancing Friday, Jan. 11th, 2013. Email Cecilia or Alison to book your table.
