Salsa Floreo Presents: Ladies’ Latin Movement Technique
Did you see our ladies perform at a Mid-Summer Salsa on Saturday? Wish you were up there with them? Or do you want some new moves to bring to the dance floor? Come learn some styling technique at our latest workshop!
This dance class focuses on latin motion technique–sexy body movement set to salsa and other latin musical genres such as reggaeton, cha cha, merengue and bachata!
In addition to learning some characteristically latin body isolations, we’ll also cover footwork and musicality to enhance your own sassy/sexy/sultry personal dance style!
This class may be done barefoot or in flats, but if you’re daring enough to do it in heels, then do it in heels!
(No street shoes please!)

TANGO ON THE EDGE PRACTICA NOTICE
Practica: A practice session for Tango Dancers
Thursday practica: Arts and Culture Centre 3rd Floor Mezzanine Gallery 8:30 – 10:30pm.
Sunday Practica will take place at the Mmap Room, Arts and Culture Centre 7 – 9 pm. focus: milonga moves and rhythms.
***NOTE CHANGE OF SCHEDULE: ***Due to an overabundance of weddings booked at the Battery hotel, we have had to cancel our dinner and dancing for July and August. This Friday, July 6 we will meet at the small plaza at the corner of Prescott and Duckworth at 7 pm for an impromptu evening Tango, then pop in to the Bamboo Gardens for Chinese food afterwards. Bamboo Gardens is at 252 Duckworth St. directly opposite the Tim Horton’s ; very close to the plaza where we will dance.
TOTE MEMBERS: Watch for upcoming details of a House Milonga to be hosted in August, as well as our kayak and Tango in Cape Broyle.

Middle Cove Bonfire and Weiner Roast Friday, July 20. Meet at Motion Lookout above the beach at 8 pm for Tango til Sunset. Then, meet by the bonfire @ 9 pm. Bring your instruments and campfire songs, and your own beverage of choice. We’ll provide hot dogs and marshmallows for roasting. Alternate night Saturday, July 21. Drop Cecilia an email secretary@tangoontheedge.ca if you plan to come, so we’ll have enough hot dogs! If you need a lift, contact Don, Christine or Cecilia.

Can’t wait to dance there again 😉

Salsa Floreo Presents: The Summer Salsa Series
1. ABSOLUTE BEGINNER SALSERO
This 7 week introductory series covers your salsa basics: footwork, frame and connection–the basis of leading and following LA Style Salsa (“On 1”), a turn and the cross body lead. By the end of this series, you’ll have some solid salsa tools downpat to bring to the social dance floor. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, NO PARTNER REQUIRED.
Dates: Tuesdays, July 10, 17, 24, 31, August 7, 14, 21
Time: 6:15-7:15 p.m.
Cost: $90.00 per person
2. BEGINNER TWO
This 7 week series builds on the basics of LA Style Salsa (“On 1”) learned in the Absolute Beginner Series. With continued emphasis on strong frame and partner connection, as well as footwork and timing, this class will also expand upon the basic building block of club style salsa, the cross body lead, to give you a more extensive vocabulary of well-executed moves to take to the social dance floor.
PRE-REQUISITE: Absolute Beginner Salsero Series AND/OR knowledge of Cross Body Lead
Dates: Tuesdays, July 10, 17, 24, 31, August 7, 14, 21
Time: 7:15-8:30 p.m.
Cost: $90.00 per person
3. INTERMEDIATE
This 7 week series is for those with some experience dancing LA Style Salsa (“On 1”) who are looking to build upon the skillset they have already acquired. From a solid frame and partner connection and increased kinesthetic awareness, more intricate moves and patterns will be explored and mapped on to songs of varying tempo to further enhance leading/following and timing skills.
PRE-REQUISITE: Knowledge of Cross Body Lead AND at least one year’s experience salsa dancing (or by permission of instructor)
Dates: Tuesdays, July 10, 17, 24, 31, August 7, 14, 21
Time: 8:30-9:45 p.m.
Cost: $90.00 per person

We will meet Thursday evenings at the 3rd floor Gallery in the Arts and Culture Centre, 8:30 – 10:30 pm
Sunday Practica will take place at the Mmap Room, Arts and Culture Centre 7 – 9 pm. Our focus at our guided practice is the foundation of colgadas. Watch this demonstration:
